Hosted by Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool on The Merseyside, The Grand National Steeple Chase is arguably the most prestigious race on the National Hunt calendar.

If you’re a fan of the elite horse racing that takes place during The Grand National Festival, then great news – there are four other meetings at Aintree over the National Hunt season, each as marvellous as the last.

Grand National Race Calendar

One of the most highly anticipated meetings of the year, The Grand National Festival at Aintree is a three-day National Hunt meeting that offers a total of 21 races split into three seven-race cards including a championship race on each day.

Around 225,000 spectators gather at Aintree to witness the thrilling races and bask in the electrifying atmosphere as the elite participants thunder around the three racetracks in Merseyside.

Evening Racing Race Calendar

Aintree’s evening of extraordinary National Hunt racing is scheduled to take place on Friday the 14th of May. This will be the final National Hunt meeting held at Aintree Racecourse before the summer break.

A warm Spring Friday evening in May sets the scene for a magical evening of fantastic races. A seven-race card offers a variety of race types including hurdles, steeplechases and a National Hunt flat race to cap it all off.

After roughly 5 months without National Hunt horse racing at Aintree, the gates finally swing back open to welcome the hordes for The Afternoon Racing in October.

There are seven races to contend during this magnificent Sunday afternoon at Aintree consisting of a variety of race types and classes to ensure everybody’s racing taste buds are tantalised.

Aintree Racecourse regulars don’t have very long to wait for the next meeting after The Afternoon Racing, with The William Hill Autumn Racing following just a few weeks later.

The William Hill Autumn Racing offers a comprehensive day of jump racing at the beginning of November every year, with seven wonderful races squeezed into a single exhilarating afternoon on Saturday the 6th of November 2021.

The final National Hunt meeting held at Aintree in the calendar year is The William Hill Becher Chase which is scheduled to unfold on Saturday the 4th of December 2021.

Within this meeting’s seven-race card The Becher Chase takes place, which acts as an early-season trial run of The Grand National itself for horse owners, trainers and jockeys to get a feel for how their horses may perform on the big day.

Excitement levels for The Grand National begin to rise at The Becher Chase race day, with all roads now leading to The Grand National Steeple Chase in April.
