The William Hill Extra Places Every Day EBF National Hunt Novices Hurdle Race is the first race that is run for The William Hill Autumn Raceday every year at Aintree Racecourse.

The Autumn Raceday is the second National Hunt meeting that is hosted by Aintree Racecourse every new National Hunt season, taking place on a Saturday afternoon at the beginning of November annually.

Seven brilliant races are on offer, with a wonderful mix of hurdle races, steeplechases and a National Hunt flat race. This excellent day of racing sponsored by William Hill begins at 12:25 in the afternoon and concludes after The William Hill Betting TV ‘Junior’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 15:50.

About the Race

The William Hill Extra Places Every Day EBF National Hunt Novices Hurdle Race is a Class 4 National Hunt hurdle race for novices that serves as the opening race for The Aintree Autumn Raceday every November.

Open to horses aged between and including four and six years old, The William Hill Extra Places Every Day EBF National Hunt Novices Hurdle Race runs two miles and four furlongs of Aintree’s Mildmay Course and features a number of hurdles for the young novices to negotiate.

A £6,800 prize pool was on offer last time out, which assigned the following sums to each placement position:

1st place – 8/15 Wilde About Oscar (IRE) – £4,419

2nd place – 4/1 Docpickedme (IRE) – £1,297

3rd place – 20/1 Timeless Beauty (IRE) – £649

4th place – 12/1 Slipway (IRE) – £324

3/1 third-favourite Quoi De Neuf finished first in the 2018 edition of The William Hill Extra Places Every Day EBF National Hunt Novices Hurdle at Aintree, ridden by jockey Leighton Aspell and trained by Evan Williams.

11/4 second-favourite Redzor finished two and a half lengths behind Quoi De Neuf in second place, followed by 9/4 race favourite Captain Drake in third place and 12/1 outsider One For The Team in fourth.

The 2018 edition of this race had six starters but only five successful finishers.

2017

Back in 2017, the winner of The William Hill Extra Places Every Day EBF National Hunt Novices Hurdle on The William Hill Autumn Raceday was 5/2 second-favourite Hear No Evil, ridden by jockey Harry Skelton and trained by Dan Skelton.

14/1 outsider Imperial Eloquence finished five lengths behind Hear No Evil in second place, followed by 25/1 priced longer outsider Spider’s Bite in third place and 9/4 race favourite Delire D’Estruval in fourth.

This edition of the race was contested by nine runners and completed by all.
