Grand National Festival winner Rowland Ward will make his racecourse reappearance across Merseyside at Haydock Park on Saturday afternoon in the Grade 3 Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle.
Having won the Pinsent Masons Handicap Hurdle last month, Stuart Edmunds’s charge has been hiked 10lbs by the handicapper as he bids for a north-west double.
The Sea The Stars gelding will reoppose Olly Murphy’s Copperless, who looked to have every chance in Liverpool in April before falling two out and will no doubt serve it up to the subsequent winner once again with a clear round.
He will also reoppose the Phillip Hobbs representative Camprond, who he saw off in the closing stages at Aintree last time out, with the pair now 1lbs closer on official ratings.
Haydock’s Pertemps Swinton Hurdle Day has eight races, featuring four National Hunt contests and a quartet of flat events.
The action gets underway at 1:25pm and concludes at the finale of the 5:35pm.
