Chapmanshype will be aiming to land his second victory over fences on Saturday at Hexham, after claiming success on his chase debut at Fontwell last month.
The seven-year-old had made himself known over fences, winning six of his 13 starts over the smaller obstacles.
It wasn’t to be the gelding’s day as he could only manage to finish 16th of 22 runners.
However, he bounced back to form with a pleasing start to life over fences as Snowden’s recruit landed a 2m3½f Novices’ Chase at Fontwell.
The gelding faced a difficult rival in Eglantine Du Seuil (who runs at Newton Abbot on Friday evening) and he got the better of her in the final stages, claiming victory by two and three-quarter lengths.
That has proven to be useful form, as Paul Nicholls’ mare went on to claim success at Worcester two weeks later.
Chapsmanshype is carrying a 6lb penalty for this 2m4f Novices’ Chase at Hexham on Saturday, but he is the odds-on 4/7 favourite at the time of writing and he should be comfortably able to land a second success here.
