The final day of the Perth Festival gets underway this afternoon, with seven more races on offer at the Perthshire track.
The action gets underway with a two-mile novices’ hurdle at 1:30 and concludes at 4:53 with a two-mile bumper.
The team have ripped apart the card, in hope of finding some winners at the Scottish course.
Here are their selections for the third day of the Perth Festival.
NAP – Smoking Gun – 3:45 Perth (10/3 – William Hill)
Representing a trainer that carries a strong winning record at Perth, Smoking Gun could well hold some value in the Edinburgh Gin Handicap Chase.
The gelding didn’t even make it past the first fence in the Irish Grand National last week, but this is a much less daunting task and he could well bounce back at the first time of asking here.
Gordon Elliott’s recruit is a stout stayer over this trip and while he is 9lbs higher than his last outing, he has proven to be competitive at this mark and the ground conditions look optimum for him.
The nine-year-old’s pressing running style should keep him in the mix and he could well get the better of some useful rivals here.
NB: Geryville – 3:15 Perth (6/1 – Various)
Hailing from Micky Hammond’s yard, Geryville could well be up for the task in the three-mile Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase.
The gelding carries some interesting form into the contest, getting the better of Topham winner Mac Tottie to win at Newcastle last time out.
The six-year-old only received a 2lb rise for that win and runs on suitable ground here, so he could well be one to note in this level of company.
His front-running style should benefit him on this circuit, with his price of 6/1 holding some major appeal here.
LONGSHOT: I See You Well – 2:40 Perth (12/1 – bet365)
A progressive type from Seamus Mullins’ yard, I See You Well could be worth taking a chance on in the Highland National.
The gelding has slowly risen up through the rankings this season, jumping up 10lbs since last April after winning three of his past seven starts.
The nine-year-old got the better of the market favourite on his last outing at Fontwell and while he is 2lbs higher in the rankings now, he could still be a threat over the longer distance.
His price of 12/1 holds some interest here and he could easily push into the places if he’s on song today.
