The second day of the Perth Festival is upon us, with another eight races for jumps fans to sink their teeth into.
The action kicks off at 1:00 with a 2m Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and concluded at 4:55 with a 2m Handicap Hurdle.
The team have scoured through the card and picked out their three best bets for the eight-race card in Perthshire.
Here are their selections for the second day of the Perth Festival.
Donald McCain’s dream season may well be coming to an end, but he could well kick up another winner in the form of Gaelik Coast this afternoon.
The gelding struggled at Aintree last time out, but it was a large-field Grade 3 contest over two miles and it could well have been too hot a race for him on that occasion.
He is stepped back up to 2m4f here and returns to more familiar company, with his mark of 135 looking appealing in this contest.
The eight-year-old is now 2lbs below his last winning mark and the ground conditions shouldn’t be an issue for him, with his price of 11/2 looking massive value in this contest.
Under the guidance of Nicky Richards, Snowy Clouds could break his duck for his connections on his handicap debut.
After a fairly respectable effort in novice company last time out, the six-year-old kicks off life in handicaps with an interesting mark and he could well have more in the locker.
The better ground on offer here should benefit him and his front-running style will suit this track.
The gelding is still relatively unexposed and he could well show further progress here, with his price of 8/1 hinting at some value in this field.
Finding a race with three places seems to be becoming tougher in recent times and while there is a hot favourite in this contest, there seems to be plenty of value in the places in the opening contest at Perth.
Memors is fairly lower down in the ratings compared to some of his rivals in this contest, but the seven-year-old could use that to his advantage this afternoon.
Both Minelladestination and Burn The Evidence carry penalties for previous wins, while Memors carries even less weight with the booking of a 5lb claimer in the saddle.
He will need to show some signs of improvement to be competitive here but if he can prove to be effective over the minimum trip, he could well push into the places for his connections here.
