Grade 3 Aintree hero Tronador reappears at the Galway Festival in the Grade B Guinness Handicap Hurdle on Friday evening for Denise Foster, bidding for a third career success at Ballybrit.
The five-year-old gelding was a surprise winner on Merseyside on only his second start in 2021, pulling comfortably clear of the field off a mark of 128 and he features back across the Irish Sea just 6lb higher.
He disappointed at Punchestown but ran a creditable effort on the flat at Killarney to shed any cobwebs ahead and usual pilot Jack Kennedy is back in the saddle as he returns to action over timber.
The County Kerry jockey told the Racing Post in the aftermath of his Liverpool win: “He won well.
“All went very smoothly; he jumped well and got a lovely run through. We went a nice, even gallop and that helped my lad because it helped him stay in the race.
“He wants this sort of ground and only in the last two weeks have we had the weather to get the ground for him. He’s a nice horse for these spring festivals.”
